About Cyclopath | Accredited Cycle Right Provider, North East Ireland
Cyclopath Cycling School is an independent cycling business based in Dromiskin, Co. Louth, serving schools, groups, clubs and organisations across the North East and North Dublin. We provide cycling education, mobile bike repairs, corporate cycling events and an online bicycle shop. Our work is built around one simple aim: helping more people ride safely, confidently and more often.
Why Cyclopath Exists
Too many children do not learn the joy of cycling, and most children reach secondary school without ever having received structured cycling education. Similarly, too many adults want to commute by bike but lack the confidence to start. As a result, countless bikes sit unused in sheds needing repair.
Cyclopath was set up to address all three problems – not from a distant head office, but from the North East itself. Consequently, every programme we deliver, every bike we fix, and every part we sell serves the same aim: fewer car journeys, more confident cyclists, and safer roads for everyone.
What We Stand For
Experienced & Practical. Based in Dromiskin, Co. Louth, we work with schools, clubs, groups, and organisations across a wide area. As cyclists and road users ourselves, we bring real experience of real roads, real conditions, and real training environments to every session. Training is hands-on, progressive, and built around cycling situations that pupils and adults will actually encounter. When you book Cyclopath, you deal directly with the person who will deliver the programme.
Accredited. Our training is delivered to recognised national standards, and all instructors are Cycling Ireland qualified, Garda Vetted, First Aid certified and Safeguarding compliant.
Inclusive. We deliver adapted programmes for disability groups, special education classes, and participants of all abilities. Every person who wants to learn to cycle deserves the chance to do so in a safe and supportive environment.
Honest. Whether it is bike repairs or online shop pricing, we give clear information upfront. No surprises on the day.
Meet Garreth Curran – Founder

Cyclopath was founded by Garreth Curran, a Dundalk native who spent years cycling in Dublin before returning to the North East. Working as a bicycle mechanic, he was approached by Louth Local Sports Partnership to visit schools during Bike Week. Garreth saw schools struggling to access reliable local cycling training. National providers were stretched thin, and local schools often missed out entirely.
That gap was the starting point for Cyclopath Cycling School. Therefore, by combining Cycle Right instructor qualifications, a City & Guilds bicycle mechanic certification, and Cycling Ireland Activation Officer status, Garreth built a provider that could serve schools, clubs, disability groups, and organisations from a base they could depend on – locally, reliably, year after year.
Since launching, Cyclopath has trained thousands of pupils across primary and secondary schools in the North East, maintains a 100% school rebooking record, and offers corporate cycling events, mobile bike repairs, and an online shop.

Programmes include:
- Cycle Right Stage 1 – primary and secondary schools, clubs, and adults
- Cycle Right Stage 2 – secondary schools and adults
- Cycle Right Learn to Cycle with a Disability – primary schools and disability groups
- Balance Bike – Junior and Senior Infants, additional educational needs classes, cycling clubs, and community groups
- Cycling Skills – Junior and Senior Infants, additional educational needs classes, cycling clubs, and community groups
- Bicycle Maintenance Workshops — Transition Year and secondary schools
Government subsidies are available for Cycle Right Stage 1 for all primary schools. Balance Bike and Cycling Skills programmes can be subsidised for DEIS schools and additional educational needs classes in non-DEIS schools. Cyclopath manages subsidy applications on behalf of schools to keep the process as simple as possible.

Corporate Cycling Events
Cyclopath works with employers and organisations to deliver staff cycling days, bicycle maintenance workshops, commuter cycling skills sessions, and group Cycle Right training. These sessions support active travel goals, staff wellbeing, and sustainability commitments, and give employees the confidence to choose the bike more often.
Mobile Bike Repairs
When not in schools, Cyclopath operates a fully equipped mobile repair workshop that comes to your home, school, or workplace. Garreth is a City & Guilds qualified mechanic and IPBMA member, and carries a wide range of tools and parts to complete most work on site. Pricing is clear and agreed before any work begins, therefore no surprises!
