Cycle Right support and separate Green-Schools support for eligible non-DEIS schools are explained below.
How Cycle Right funding and your school’s quote work
Department of Transport support
Cycle Right Stage 1 is supported through the Department of Transport and Road Safety Authority. Cyclopath manages the Cycle Right funding paperwork. Department of Transport support is reflected in our quote; it is not paid directly to your school. The amount we quote is the final amount your school pays Cyclopath.
Green-Schools: non-DEIS schools only
Eligible non-DEIS schools may apply for separate Green-Schools support towards Cycle Right of up to €10 per participating pupil, to a maximum of €600 per calendar year. To qualify, the school must be working towards a Green Flag for Travel or Global Citizenship Travel, or have completed the Travel theme and remain active in the Green-Schools programme. Your school manages the application and receives any approved grant directly. Confirm eligibility and funding availability with the Cycle Right team in Cycling Ireland.
Check Green-Schools eligibility and application guidance
To check funding
Include your school’s DEIS status in your enquiry. We’ll confirm the Cycle Right support reflected in your quote and explain the Green-Schools eligibility criteria. Your school must confirm its eligibility and funding availability directly with the Cycle Right team in Cycling Ireland.
